A Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer is required for a well-regarded Engineering Company based near the Worcester area. The position is supporting the Facilities manager with on site maintenance and compliance. This is a permanent role working Monday to Friday (daytime hours), providing a competitive salary overall benefits package.

Responsibilities of the Site Engineer include -

Daily checks of the Plant equipment, including start / stop routines.

Planned maintenance routines / inspections.

Effective running of effluent plant.

Handyman duties as required around site.

Control of contractors on site.

Checks to fire alarms / fire doors etc.

Ensure efficient plant operation and compliance to Client and legislative Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.

Drive continuous improvement on site and helps towards maximising overall site efficiency.

Maintenance Engineer

Up to £35568 per annum

The client are a successful and renowned global steel processing facility. They are seeking a multi skilled engineer with an electrical bias. The company offer a clean, pleasant environment to work in. They are also a friendly team.

The principle job function is to facilitate the highest production from the process lines by preventative and predictive maintenance. To offer a prompt response to breakdowns.

The company are based in West Bromwich so is easily commutable from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Willenhall, Dudley, Tipton, Halesowen, Stourbridge.

Duties and responsibilities are;

  • To provide breakdown cover across the organisation
  • To assist the works engineer in ensuring that all machines run to maximum efficiency through use of preventative maintenance systems
  • To ensure repairs are effected for the minimum cost.
  • To liaise with the shop floor operatives and team leaders on relevant issues.
  • To liaise with the quality team to ensure a continuing reduction in rejections due to faulty machines both in house and client returns.

I would welcome applications from candidates who meet the following criteria;

  • To have previous experience of plant maintenance on metal processing machines such as blanking, shearing, slitting, piercing machines or to come from a heavy manufacturing industry background.
  • Be both electrical and mechanically knowledgeable but with a bias towards electrical.
  • Have a relevant electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, 16th, 17th or 18th edition etc.
  • Working knowledge of PLC fault finding, preferably Siemens but other PLC experience will be acceptable
  • Able to work on a 3 shift rotation basis
  • Hydraulics and pneumatic knowledge

Hours of work are ; 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am, rotating on a weekly basis

  • Experience having worked with systems providing compressed air, refrigeration, HVAC, Water Services, Waste Management and all round Electrical Services.
  • Ability to stay abreast of H&S requirements and permit to Work (PTW) procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of HSE responsibilities, PUWER, LOLER, etc.
  • Education/training in Electrical Installations, Inspection and Testing (desirable).

Maintenance Works Engineer

This technical plastics moulding company is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Works Engineer to support the Manufacturing Manager, where you will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the maintenance resource ensuring site equipment is maintained to a high standard of safety, availability and cost efficiency in line with the business needs.

As Works Engineer, you duties will include -

  • Management and support all engineering contractors.
  • Provide leadership and direction for a team of five engineers across 12/7 operation, ensuring safe systems of work, training and competence, whilst encouraging a continuous improvement culture.
  • Developing and improving the existing Engineering processes and methods in the production environment through data collection and problem solving techniques.
  • Ensuring appropriate records and documentation are kept in an organized manner.
  • Provisioning of cost efficient site maintenance services, and define/control of the TPM programme aligned to the business KPI's.
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of health and safety, providing assistance and advice to the team including carrying out appropriate risk assessments.

To be successful in the role of Maintenance Works Manager, the ideal candidate will -

  • Have experience of leading and motivating a maintenance team within a fast moving manufacturing environment.
  • Have experience of working within a plastics processing environment, preferably injection moulding.
  • Have either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
  • Have experience of monitoring contracts, SLAs, overseeing contractors, service providers and suppliers.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset, particularly in the area of supporting Preventative Maintenance Planning.

All work is planned at least 7 days in advance and jobs are sent through weekly, however urgent breakdowns will get called through so you must be prepared to react to these given the location.

Nationwide travel is expected, with occasional overseas travel to the head office in Germany when required, including training.
