Senior Development Scientist

£35000 - £40000 per annum

Senior Development Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Provide the mathematical, physics, and system contribution to the design of instrument systems, in particular, to optical systems involving imaging and spectroscopy.
  • Help solve product problems as they relate to physics, mathematics and systems engineering issues.
  • Participate in the development of new algorithms and mathematical models.
  • As a Graduate Physicist, Optical, Mechanical, Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Mathematician or equivalent with workplace experience. A PhD would be advantageous.
  • A team player, able to adapt and adjust when the need arises with experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, including Software, Systems, and Electronics.

As the successful Senior Development Scientist you will contribute to the evolution of customer solutions through algorithm and hardware design and stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art technological developments, feeding that knowledge into novel solutions to customer problems.

Experience in imaging and/or spectroscopy hardware and/or algorithms. In particular knowledge of Raman, IR spectroscopy, Mathematical modelling using Matlab or similar tools would be an advantageous.

Senior Algorithm Development Scientist

£35000 - £45000 per annum Pension, Flexi-time

The Senior Development Scientist will develop data algorithms for the next generation products with algorithms at the heart of all products, this role will be critical to the future success. The successful Senior Development Scientist will work within R&D and possess strong Data Analysis skills, classic image processing techniques and have substantial experience using MATLAB

Responsibilities & Experience Required:

  • Develop algorithms for our next generation products and be responsible for the management of algorithms during product development and support their integration into product software.
  • Analyse experimental data from our products to provide a detailed understanding of them and generate ideas for improvements.
  • Previous experience working in industry, preferably in a Data analysis, Image processing role or Machine learning.
  • Have a strong analytical capability, you get energy from solving complex problems for a diversity of products, systems and mathematical modelling.
  • An interest in creating efficient algorithms and good understanding of classic image processing techniques, feature extraction, Image enhancement, edge detection, without reliance on toolboxes.

Electrical Fitter

£28000 - £34000 per annum plus overtime

The company is an established iron foundry producing castings for the automotive, hydraulics and power industries. Formed over 100 years ago, they have grown to become a leading manufacturer in the grey iron castings sector.

The company is based in Walsall and is commutable from, Willenhall, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Dudley, Birmingham, Cannock.

Duties are;

  • Carry out maintenance duties and scheduled planned preventative maintenance on plant machinery on site.
  • Monitor performance, prediction of failures and implementation of improvements.
  • Carry out repairs and inspections as instructed

Your experiences and skills should be;

  • Have an electrical fitting/maintenance background
  • Have worked and are familar with a iron foundry or a very heavy manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Have a recognised electrical qualification of minimum City & Guilds or NVQ level 3
  • Work from a schematic circuit drawings when trouble shooting
  • Able to troubleshoot on complex relay logic control systems

Hours of work are on a rotating weekly basis, 4 days, 4 nights per week. Overtime is available at a higher pay premium.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

£31000 - £35000 per annum plus overtime

A global organisation manufacturing, process and the distribution of metal tubes, bars and strips seeking a Electrical biased maintenance engineer for their busy operations. The company are well established and support the aerospace, oil and gas and heavy engineering sectors.

The company is based in Walsall and easily commutable from Wolverhampton, Wednesbury, West Bromwich, Birmingham, Dudley & Cannock.

Duties to include are;

  • Co ordination of routine planned maintenance and to respond to maintenance issues within the organisation.
  • Carry out repairs and inspections as required.
  • To monitor performance, prediction of failures and implementation of improvements.
  • Involvement in plant improvement projects.
  • Some supervision/assistance of colleagues in engineering team.

I welcome applications from engineers, fitters, technicians with an electrical aptitude.

  • Have experience of working within a heavy manufacturing environment in a electrical maintenance capacity.
  • Practical working knowledge of 3 phase systems, AC & DC equipment.
  • Ideally have PLC experience (Allen Bradley or Siemens).
  • A relevant electrical qualification (training will be provided for 17th/18th edition).
  • Worked on/repair of motors, drives and inverters.

Hours for role are rotating weekly 6am to 2pm (Mon-Thurs) & 6am to 1pm (Friday) and then 2pm to 10.30pm (Mon-Thurs) & 1pm to 5.30pm (Fri)

Electrical Maintenace Engineer

£25000 - £28000 per annum

Working for one of the world's leading Steel Manufactures based in Birmingham, this is fantastic permanent opportunity working 3 shifts based on working eight hour shifts 40 hours per week, 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, 10pm - 6am. Paying up to £28,000 per annum for the right candidate, with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.

Working alongside a team of Mechanical/ Electrical Engineers along with the Maintenance Manager. Duties include electrical fault finding, repairs and maintenance to control panels on machinery.

Job Title: Senior Electronics Engineer

Job Overview.

A position with a high-end organization has recently been released, ASC is looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to design, develop and implement advanced electro-mechanical design solutions from enquiry through to production. This is complex electronic systems for specific security applications.

You, the Senior Electronics Engineer will use your experience to determine unique solutions to fix the security issues of Electronic communication products.

Main Responsibilities - Duties

  • Generate pioneering design solutions to comply with customer product requirement and within budget.
  • Develop strong working relationships with other team members and functions to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and are capable of being manufactured within cost
  • Provide an understanding of applying modern design practices, manufacturing/prototyping processes and their costs drivers.
  • Work as an integral part of the Engineering design and development team to identify and recommend
  • TEMPEST control and functional approaches.
  • Support problem solving of design related issues on existing and new product developments
  • Create, manage and release design documentation and Bills of Materials.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of modern communications and IT equipment and uses in the secure and rugged markets.
  • Experienced in supporting R&D and NPI initiatives.
  • Have a strong understanding of EMC and EMI.
  • Have experience in providing cost estimates for NRE and product costings supporting technical response documents for bid activities and proposals to customers.
  • Undertake regular reviews of projects to ensure adherence to requirements and timescales.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently under minimum supervision.
  • Experience in working in a regulated industry, understanding data storage criteria and handling
  • Sensitive information up to UK Secret.
  • Expert user of modern Electronic, RF and EMC test equipment
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years' design experience.
  • It is essential to the role that all candidates must be eligible for security vetting. Ability to obtain SC Clearance.

Welding Equipment Service Engineer

£35000 - £40000 per annum Van and benefits

Due to expansion a well established European manufacturer of welding machinery, are seeking a new field service engineer to join the team. Fantastic opportunity paying up to £40K basic salary, company van and fuel card, and a solid benefits package.

The company

A global OEM of welding equipment, they operate not only in Europe, but also in North & South America, Middle East and Asia too. UK based operation has a setup of 41 staff including service engineers, applications and technical support, and a welding service manager to head up the day to day operation. With a household name in the welding industry, they have a very low turnover of staff and a business model that allows natural career progression through training.

The role

The field based engineer will be responsible for -

Service & repair of welding equipment including inverters, torches, hose packs, and automated systems
Providing support to customers and troubleshooting
Workshop based repairs and servicing based in Milton Keynes
Regional, and on occasions UK based travel to customer sites
Calibration and Commissioning of welding equipment
Safety test and weld test after repair and servicing
Where possible, provide customers with info on new products/systems/processes into the market
User demonstrations with the customer if required
Assisting with events (trade fairs, seminars, etc.)
Ensuring vehicle is stocked with parts and assisting with stock control where required

Working hours are 37.5hrs per week Mon to Fri, with flexibility towards start and finishing times depending on the job in hand for that day.

The suitable candidate

The ideal field service engineer will have the following demonstrable skills

Strong knowledge of welding technology at least with manual machines, any experience with robot welding is an advantage
Certificates or qualifications within electrical engineering or equivalent
Both mechanical and electrical skills, fault finding and repairs as necessary
Be able to provide user demonstrations to customers on site
Flexible approach towards working hours and occasional overnight stays if required
A full clean drivers license
