What does a Recruitment Consultant do?

A career in recruitment can be very exciting but challenging at the same time as you will work through a variety of tasks throughout your day. In brief, it’s a sales environment and you will be working to targets. You will focus on finding the right candidates for jobs by assessing their ambitions, skills and potential against a client’s requirements; winning new business and maintaining relationships with your existing clients and candidates

Typical tasks include: 

  • Searching for and speaking to candidates
  • Attending networking events
  • Conducting market research
  • Meeting with clients

  • Undergoing training and personal development

What does a typical day as a recruitment consultant look like?

Recruitment is very interesting and the types of roles you will work on, candidates you will speak to and client contacts will vary so there is no one day that is the same.

How do ASC train you to become a Recruitment Consultant?

Everyone who joins ASC as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant will work through a structured 12 week programme. It is a mix of on the job and module based learning that gives you a full introduction to recruitment.

Throughout the programme and beyond you will be given full support and guidance from your manager and all colleagues. Once you have completed the programme you will still undertake training to continue to develop your knowledge and progress your career.

What industries will I recruit for at ASC?

 

ASC predominantly focus on providing recruitment solutions for the Engineering & Manufacturing, IT and Supply Chain & Procurement sectors but across these areas we also provide services for Business and Executive level roles. What career progression can I expect at ASC?

Once you have completed your training programme, you will move into the position of Recruitment Consultant. From here, there are various paths you can take depending on how you like to work. These include:

Account Manager – Looking after one or more key accounts

Managing Consultant – Continuing as a Recruitment Consultant but with a team you’ve built around you

Senior Recruitment Consultant – Increased responsibilities including mentoring others and assisting management

Manager – Fully responsible for a team and/or running of one of our branches
