Manufacturing Engineer

A leading manufacturer of safety critical components is looking to recruit an experienced "hands-on" Manufacturing Engineer to join their team due to continuing growth.

Purpose of Role:

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide support to the Manufacturing facility, assisting with driving both process & product quality improvements to drive down cost of production without compromising product quality & output.

Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of machining processes: e.g. grinding & turning
  • Ability to work on several projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Engage teams to deliver in process improvements
  • Must be methodical and organised to be able to prioritise tasks
  • Able to present comprehensive presentations & reports for Management/Shop Floor
  • Must be analytical
  • IT Literate particularly Excel / Microsoft Packages

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the drive of process & product quality improvements within the plant
  • Problem solving and liaising with internal / external individuals on problem resolution
  • Be the process technical expert & frontline support for all process issues
  • Deliver projects & process improvements from concept through to completion
  • Support the Manufacturing Operation, providing the process requirements to manufacture products to the correct quality, volume & cost.
  • Actively reduce costs of manufacture whilst maintaining product quality & volume.
  • Monitor & respond to process output issues
  • Monitor daily reject returns, gather data and implement robust fixes
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure Production output targets are sustained
  • Responsible for ensuring that all equipment used in manufacturing or assembly processes is functioning and in specification.
  • Create Operational Standard Work & Line Balance, understanding Process Constraints
  • Identify/Support lean activities within the plant
  • Maintain process to ensure adherence to Quality standards & the Plant Quality System requirements.

Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Applications Engineering Manager, you will create electro-mechanical drawings using 2D & 3D CAD. You will also produce associated Bills of Materials (BOM).

To manage projects from concept through to final design, working on different projects day to day.

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Competent in 2D & 3D CAD
  • Project Management - managing multiple projects at a time in a fast paced environment

Purpose of Role:

As Quality Inspector you will be responsible for the inspection of manufactured components and assemblies to ensure compliance to customer specification.

Experience required:

Experienced Quality Inspector within a busy manufacturing / engineering environment

(metals/precision engineering/metal fabrication)

Ability to use manual inspection tools

Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015

Experience of auditing both internal & external (Suppliers)

Calibration of equipment

Ability to read & interpret Engineering drawings

Non Compliance reporting

Able to produce accurate and concise reports

IT Literate - Microsoft Office including Excel & Word.

Responsibilities Overview:

Inspect purchased components in line with customer specification

Investigate and respond to customer complaints

Liaise with supplier when reject parts are found

To liaise with production, design & purchasing in discussions concerning quality problems

To assist with other Goods Inwards functions when required.

To ensure any faults & deviations found are segregated and the necessary action taken

To assist in ensuring all measuring equipment is within current calibration

Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Management
    • Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied materials and follow up with suppliers for completion of corrective actions (Main focus on machining suppliers)
    • Supplier Audits (specifically process audits)
    • Supplier Development
  • ISIR management, including inspection and PPAP review/approval
  • Leading root-cause analysis investigations, implement containment and work with cross functional teams to ensure robust corrective actions
  • Product and Process audits
  • Control Plan & PFMEA maintenance
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Internal and External audits to ISO9001 and / or IATF16949
  • Represent department during external audits
  • Management of the Engineering Change process (ECN's)
  • Project work to lead or support Lean/Continuous improvement activities
  • Provide technical support for internal and external customers

Process Engineer - Temporary

£30 - £35 per hour

Process Engineer-Plastics (Temporary)

A leading injection moulding manufacturer for the life sciences/medical device sector is looking to recruit an experienced Process Engineer to join their highly experienced and established team on a temporary basis.

The Candidate:

  • Experience in plastics AND/OR extrusion in a regulated environment e.g. medical device/pharma/life sciences
  • ISO13485 Quality Management Systems (Highly Advantageous)
  • Must have demonstrable experience of running process development & validation projects

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of tooling & processes for Extrusion and Injection Moulding machinery.
  • Provide first-line support to Production for process and equipment issues.
  • Responsible for creating User Requirement Specifications and Functional Design Specifications for CAPEX, Business Purchases and other requirements including tools and fixtures.
  • Sourcing, procurement, commissioning, installation and qualification of equipment (IQOQ), tools & fixtures which may include FAT, SAT and DQ.
  • Responsible for generating scientific protocols, reports and required quality system documentation.
  • Conduct process development and validation in accordance with the requirements of the QMS, customer requirements including full documentation of all trials & validations.
  • Responsible for creating & maintaining documents such as Work Instructions, PFMEA, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Training, etc.
  • Provide expertise to New Product Development (NPD) and support for New Product Introduction (NPI) and new technologies, sample builds & building jigs.
  • Develop & validate inspection and testing techniques and equipment where required for process development and validation.
  • Responsible for training departments on processes and equipment use.
