CAD Engineer

CAD Engineer

Due to exceptional growth, a leading manufacturer of industrial machinery applications is looking to recruit a CAD Engineer.

Role Overview:

As an assembly production environment, this role will be responsible for modifying existing products through product development to increase efficiency, performance and design taking into account supplier capabilities and cost effectiveness.

You will also provide technical input to the production department

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Experience with 3D CAD / AutoCAD advantageous but conversion course can be provided
  • Experience in manufacturing processes ideally fabrications
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and its requirements
  • Experience in creation of Bills of Materials
  • IT Literate in MS Office particularly MS Excel

Responsibilities:

  • Produce 3D models and outline drawing proposals according to customer requirements
  • Maintain existing drawing revisions for steel fabrications and components, while standardising part details and consolidating related profiles
  • Create First Article Inspection reports
  • Produce tooling & jig designs
  • Create Work Instructions to aid production
  • Create Bills of materials.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Quality Engineer with experience of machining environments and machining suppliers.

Purpose of Role:

The Successful Candidate (Skills & Experience):

  • Control Plans and Process FMEA
  • Problem Solving using 8D
  • Auditing (System, Product and Process)
  • Able to read and interpret drawings
  • Willing to travel UK and Abroad

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Management
    • Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied materials and follow up with suppliers for completion of corrective actions (Main focus on machining suppliers)
    • Supplier Audits (specifically process audits)
    • Supplier Development
  • ISIR management, including inspection and PPAP review/approval
  • Leading root-cause analysis investigations, implement containment and work with cross functional teams to ensure robust corrective actions
  • Product and Process audits
  • Control Plan & PFMEA maintenance
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Internal and External audits to ISO9001 and / or IATF16949
  • Represent department during external audits
  • Management of the Engineering Change process (ECN's)
  • Project work to lead or support Lean/Continuous improvement activities
  • Provide technical support for internal and external customers

As Quality Manager you will lead, support and manage the Quality department and be responsible for day to day quality issues to ensure customers receive the highest standards of quality both product and service. You will implement and manage Quality systems and processes.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge required to be successful:

    • Experienced Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in the manufacture of Plastic Components, PCB's or Electrical/Electronic products
    • Must have previous leadership / management experience able to mentor and develop your team to maximise full potential and resource
    • Working knowledge of ISO9001 & ISO1400
    • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Supplier Quality / Supplier Development

In the role of Quality Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Lead and develop a small established Quality team to maximise full potential of every individual
  • Ensures Quality procedures, processes, practices and controls are developed & implemented
  • Ensure product issues are investigated in a timely manner and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Review and approval of technical documents
  • Problem solving
  • Supplier development and management
  • Work with in house design team during new product development from a Quality perspective
  • Lead regulatory compliance strategies

  • Experience of working in a AS9100D, ISO9001 & ISO14001 environment

In the role of Quality Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Supervision and management of the Quality Technician / Engineer
  • Implement and maintain AS9100D
  • Comply with the requirements defined by the QMS in line with company objectives and requirements
  • Implement improvements and develop effective production techniques to continually improve the processes and mitigate risks from poor design, build and test.
  • Manage the introduction of new products into production, ensuring that opportunities to remove all manufacturing issues are identified and actioned before full time production commences and mitigate risks from design oversights.
  • Prepare for and constructively contribute to customer meetings.
  • Lead customer visits for FAIRs and follow up actions to completion.
  • Non Conformance Reports (NCR)
  • Review trend analysis and own/instigate preventative actions
  • Liaise with suppliers over non-conforming products & design changes
  • Manage the RTV systems to meet KPI targets
  • Ensure QA procedures, processes, practices & controls are properly developed, implemented and maintained
  • Ensure that all products represent the maximum quality & reliability attainable
  • Routinely provide guidance and leadership to Engineers, Inspectors and/or Technicians for the duration of a project assignment

The CMM Programmer will be responsible for the inspection of manufactured components and assemblies to ensure compliance to customer specification, liaising with suppliers when rejects are found.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Experience with CMM Programming in MS-COSMOS
  • Worked with Plastic components from drawings and CAD models
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent knowledge of GD&T
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with CATIA software

Responsibilities Overview:

  • Define and implement part inspection processes that are cost effective and meet all quality requirements.
  • Write CMM programs for the inspection of components which will include multiple part measurement - multiples of the same part and of different parts in the same program.
