Lathe Operator / Materials Tester

£10 - £11 per hour

Lathe Operator/Materials Tester / Temp to perm / Wednesbury / £10.56 per hour

A Lathe Operator / Materials Tester is required for a steel processing company based in Wednesbury.

Duties include the operating an XYZ Lathe to machine steel billets. They are looking for someone to eventually be programming the machine from scratch but will consider anyone with similar Setting and even Operating experience.

The role is a straight permanent position with an immediate start available following a successful interview.

Full duties include:

  • Operating XYZ Lathes machining steel billets to produce test pieces for laboratory examination
  • Saw off to length and centre drill the samples
  • Machine samples to size
  • Quality checking machined parts using measuring equipment
  • Inputting data on the in house computer system
  • Carry out routine tasks such as calibration and general housekeeping

The role is working straight days initially, 7am - 3pm. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to expand their knowledge of CNC machining, learning to set and program machines, whilst also learning the Materials Testing / Quality Assurance aspects of the role.

Applicants will need a background in CNC machining / lathe operating and will have to have worked on CNC lathes but ANY experience will be considered, programming, setting or even just operating.

Lab duties include carrying out destructive testing of test pieces and analysing results for end customer. Overtime is payable after 39 hours at time and a half weekday and Saturday.

Laser Tube Cutter

£10 - £12 per hour

Laser Tube Cutter / Temp to perm / Bilston / £10.50 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Laser Tube Cutter for a large steel processing company based over in Bilston.

You will be responsible for setting and operating the Adige Laser (TC 720). Any experience on this particular machine, or even a different Adige machine will be beneficial. Ideally you will at least have been using a type of Laser Tube Cutter during your career, flat-bed experience may not be relevant.

You will be responsible for and your duties will include;

  • Setting and operating the Adige Laser TC 720
  • Cutting steel tubes to specification
  • Operating an overhead crane
  • Loading and unloading the machinery
  • Any other duties as and when required

The starting rate of pay for this role will be £10.50 per hour for your thirteen week probationary period. Following this your rate will be increased to £12.50 per hour.

You will be working mornings and afternoons rotating weekly, 6:00am - 2:00pm and 2:00pm - 10:00pm. After a thirteen week probationary period through the agency you will be eligible for a permanent contract though you may work for slightly longer than that through the agency.

Electrical Team Leader

£33000 - £34000 per annum

Electrical Team Leader / Wednesbury / £33-34k per annum

We are currently recruiting for an electrical Team Leader for a large steel processing company based over in Wednesbury.

You will be reporting to the Departmental/Section Engineer, assisting in the efficient running and coordination of the Engineering department.

To be considered for this role you MUST be time-served within the industry, with experience of both reactive and preventative maintenance, as well as having supervisory / team leading experience.

You will be responsible for, and your duties will include but not be limited to;

  • Coordination of proactive routine planned maintenance schedules and respond to reactive maintenance issues
  • Continue to develop specific skills above basic craftsman level whilst supervising/organising the multi-skilled workforce
  • Issue permits accordingly
  • Undertake and oversee on the job training
  • Short term planning & procurement
  • Determine priorities to maximise plant utilisation
  • Attend meetings to review emerging work requests and action according to priority agreed
  • Carry out repairs and inspections as instructed
  • Involvement in plant improvement projects
  • Write and review risk assessments, method statements and procedures

They are looking for someone with a HNC / ONC or equivalent in Electrical, experience leading a team, 17th / 18th Edition IEE Regulations and ideally a relevant steel / maintenance background.

The starting salary for this position is £33,910 per annum. You also get 35 days holiday and will be enrolled in the pension scheme.

You will be working mornings and afternoons, covering 6am - 2pm (6am - 1pm on Friday) and 2pm - 10:30pm (1pm - 5:30pm on Friday).

Counterbalance Forklift Truck Driver

We are currently recruiting for an FLT Driver to join a manufacturing company based in Rowley Regis.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to join a well-established company. The position will be a temp to perm contract, with permanent opportunities for the right candidates after a probationary period through the agency. The role will entail a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the shopfloor, encompassing FLT operating, cleaning / tidying, assembly work and more.

The skills and experience required for this role include;

  • Counterbalance FLT licence
  • Operating machinery
  • Palletising and stacking stock
  • Painting, cleaning and other general shopfloor maintenance tasks
  • Ideally you will have worked in a heavy duty manufacturing environment

It is paying £8.00 per hour initially, and will increase in stages up to over £9.00 per hour should you do well. The shift pattern for this position would be straight days 8am - 5pm with a 2pm finish on Fridays. It is an on-going position with a view to a perm contract after a probationary period and the client is looking to get people started ASAP!

Material Handler / Overhead Crane Operative

Up to £8 per hour

Material Handler/Overhead Crane Operative / Kingswinford / £7.83 per hour / Temp to perm

We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Material Handler / Overhead Crane Operative to join a large steel firm located in Kingswinford on a temp to perm basis.

As an Overhead Crane Operative you will be responsible for operating a 30tonne overhead crane to manoeuvre steel stock around the workplace, loading and unloading machinery and vehicles. Your regular duties would include, but would not be limited to;

  • Unloading steel coil from vehicles
  • Marking material with works information
  • Loading & unloading machinery
  • Loading vehicles for dispatch
  • Keeping factory organised, clean & tidy
  • Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines at all times
  • Any other duties as and when required

To be considered for this role you must be an experienced Material Handler / Overhead Crane Operative with recent experience coming from within the steel industry. You ARE NOT required to have a valid in-date Overhead Crane Licence.

Working hours for this role would be straight morning, working 6am - 2pm, though you must be flexible to work until 4pm on any given day, whenever required. The rate of pay for this Material Handler / Overhead Crane Operator position is £7.83 per hour.

Slitter / Slitting Machinist

£10 - £12 per hour

Slitter Setter/Operator / Temp to Perm / £9.65/£11.58 per hour

A Slitter / Slitting Line Setter / Slitting Machinist is required for a well-established steel processing company based in the Halesowen area. Duties include setting and operating a wide coil slitting line, processing various types of steel coil.

Full Duties include -

  • Setting and running a wide coil slitting line, processing coils up to 1500mm wide
  • Checking and setting of shimless tooling on the machine using Edgemaster
  • Selecting and using correct tooling for slitting heads and separators
  • First off, in process and final quality checks using measuring equipment, reporting of any non-conformance
  • Loading and unloading of coil onto the machinery using a pendant overhead crane
  • Supporting the line when required, banding / packing / labelling of slit coil once processed

Applicants should have experience with setting and running a wide coil slitting line, be able to set and run ALL stages of the machine, and be able to confidently oversee co-workers. Must also have an excellent awareness of health & safety checks and following procedures, as well as promoting good housekeeping on the machine.

Rate of pay is £9.65 on days. £11.58 on nights. A daily attendance allowance of £10.01 is payable after 12 weeks, making your rates effectively £10.65 and £12.58 going forward.

2 shift pattern rotating weekly of -

Days - 6am - 4:30pm Mon to Thurs, with a 2:30pm finish on Fri Nights - 6pm - 4:30am Mon to Thurs, with a 2:30am finish on Fri

The position is a long term contract with a view to permanent for the right person, though please bear in mind that you will be on the agency for an extended period of time.
