I work with Engineering and Manufacturing companies throughout Staffordshire, Shropshire and surrounding North Westerly regions. My main focus is to recruit for permanent/interim Quality, Applications and Process Engineering roles within an industrial and manufacturing background. 

I enjoy working within the engineering and manufacturing sector because of the scope of products produced that are used on a global scale. It's a fascinating process. I like that I can work with a wide variety of people from different disciplines. For me, getting candidate and client buy-in has always driven me forward to build lasting and mutually lucrative relationships.

The out of work me....

finds any excuse to get people down the pub. I also enjoy travelling and Prague has to be one of my favourite places to visit for its medieval feel and of course, the cheap beer! I am also prone to read the odd book but still believe that The Hobbit (which was the first book I ever read) to be one of the best.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Up to £35000 per annum Overtime, Pension

Are you a maintenance engineer keen to set up and run your own department? Want to work for a rapidly expanding business that offers stability, growth? Looking for an employer that encourages staff to take control of their department and think critically? Then we want to hear from you!

The business operates on an international scale and is looking to take its expansion to the next level by striving to be a supplier of environmentally friendly packaging for a wide range of industries. They boast 3 sites nationally and have a range of production packaging lines, robots, traditional cutting machinery, printing and labelling lines, and various other bespoke equipment. This site employs over 120 staff across a split shift system, with future growth plans in the next 12 months to expand both machining capability and headcount.

Benefits include a starting salary of £35K, day shift working, overtime availability, a company pension scheme with up to 7% employer contributions, free parking and the chance to be involved in setting up best practice for site, play a pivotal role in building a department and be involved in hiring the team around you.

Working hours are 40hrs per week and this will initially be on the day shift and there is some flexibility on working hours to suit you.

Responsibilities for the role include -

- Carrying out both reactive and preventative maintenance to all equipment and facilities
- Investigate breakdowns and carry out corrective work and repairs
- Undertake mechanical repairs, servicing and replacement of parts
- Supporting PPM's and provide continuous improvement
- Carry out analysis and investigations using failure mode analysis and route cause analysis tools (5 whys)
- Report conclusions to the Group Operations manager make recommendations for improvements
- To comply with legal requirements and to work within Company health and safety guidelines

We would love to hear from you if you've had experience in the following -


- Mechanical engineer, shift maintenance engineer, machine technician
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in either mechanical or electrical engineering
- A background in manufacturing machinery,
- Be able to carry out repairs to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of TPM's and PPM's
- Understand and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
- Working knowledge of heavy plant and machinery
- PC Literacy to ensure all maintenance schedules and charts are updated correctly
