THE ROLE

You will be responsible for the design and specification of our product, particularly in the earlier stages where thorough medical understanding is fundamental

Good drawing and model-making skills are also required.

Area of Accountability:

  • Research and development of new products
  • Provision of medical advice throughout the company
  • Improving and maintaining standards

Accountability:

  • Resolution of anatomical, functional, and material issues with consideration of production issues
  • Continued involvement with subsequent development
  • Project planning
  • Understanding and translation of the training requirements and how these can be best met by the training models
  • Communication with customers in some cases of poor function of products, and working with them and R&D and other departments to resolve such situations

Performance Indicators:

  • Well-designed prototypes that can be passed on to other team members for continued development
  • Good communication with marketing department and medical advisors / customers
  • Good communication with other R&D members involved in the project
  • Successfully resolved prototype completed on schedule
  • Continued support of those involved in subsequent stages of development, resulting in a successful product
  • Acknowledged for providing of good advice and support throughout company
  • Successful resolution of such issues, resulting in improved product and good customer relationship

KEY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong Medical knowledge based on medical training and experience in medical practice
  • Good CAD Skills (Solidworks) would be an advantage
  • Good understanding of design and design engineering principles would be an advantage
  • Possess good sculpting, model-making and mould-making skills
  • Good communicator and teamworking skills
  • Basic engineering skills turning, milling, drilling etc

Quality Engineer

Market leading 1st Tier supplier are seeking an experienced organisation for a Quality Engineer.

The Role

  • The Quality Engineer will to ensure the company meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard and the Quality Management System (QMS) contribute to the continuous improvement of the business.
  • The role demands the daily disciplines associated with quality control and the longer term systematic waste and reject reduction across the business.
  • A key requirement is the desire to fully understand processes to enable the identification of process risk.
  • The Quality Engineer to control risk through robust standard operating procedures and appropriate in-process controls.

The Successful Candidate

  • The role is challenging and would suit someone who is methodical in their approach, and can manage a large volume of work to tight deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with problem solving and confident decision making ability.
  • The successful applicant must be assertive, proactive and able to challenge traditional methods of work in a constructive manner.
  • They will be educated to 'A' level standard (or equivalent) which should include Maths and Science.
  • A Yellow belt in lean Six Sigma is essential.
  • Applicants must be proficient with all Microsoft software, including Excel, Word and Access.
  • Experience with Minitab would be advantageous.
  • High levels of accuracy are essential as the role also includes record keeping.

Due to the company's continued success and a desire to keep developing the manufacturing processes, our client are currently seeking an additional Production Engineer to be based from their East Berkshire facility.

The Role

The company currently have a number of Production Engineers whose individual skills vary, consequently they are looking for an additional Engineer to join the team who has good relevant electronics production engineering experience, be it NPI / Front ending or a manufacturing equipment / process specialist.

Candidates will need to work well with other staff and communicate well. The candidate will need to bring expertise that will both challenge and improve the company.

You will need to be hard working and tenacious as you will be hands-on and working independently much of the time.

Therefore, this is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Engineer to work in a mid-sized CEM where your work and decisions make an impact.

The Successful Candidate

The person most likely to be offered this role will have previous experience / qualifications in:

  • An experienced production engineer - electronics manufacturing
  • Be able to demonstrate your attention to detail
  • The capability to teach others / detail instructions in a user-friendly manner
  • Good computer skills. Word, Excel and CAD / Drawing packages
  • Good grasp of English Language (GCSE Grade D or equivalent)

The Product Management Department is responsible for the full range of branded and factored products sold around the world.

The Product Managers are the go-to people for analysis, performance review, pricing, competition and curriculum relevance.

A key part of the company proposition is product development. The inception starts and finishes within Product Management, with the Product Manager holding a significant role (both internally and externally) with the development and launch of each product.

Reporting into the Head of Product Management, the role requires the management of direct reports and additional overarching responsibilities across the department.


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Management of Direct reports:

  • Overseeing projects are kept to plan.
  • Development of the individuals within the team.
  • Ensuring that priorities fit with the wider objectives of the PM team and business.

Day to day management of the assigned product categories including:

KEY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • A medical qualification or experience within the medical / simulation sector
  • Experience of managing projects and people
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar role (project management)
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge and experience to a small company setting.
  • Practical, hands-on approach, and an interest in how things work with the confidence to constructively challenge when they could be improved.

Tooling Engineer

THE ROLE

The Tooling Engineer specialises in creating tooling solutions for Silicone and PU foam moulding as well as Jigs & Fixtures for new and existing production needs.
The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the development of Tooling Design Solutions to support various processing techniques from R&D through to volume component manufacture as well as revamping tooling standards to reduce production costs and researching new tooling concepts.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The Tooling Engineer is responsible for every detail of the tooling design and development process. This is central to Continuous Improvement initiatives and FMEA creation and management.
  • The role holder is responsible for the creation, execution, and maintenance of the companies products and equipment.
  • Project scheduling is an essential part of the role so that trials of new tools and processes are carried out to agreed time lines to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing and design personnel in development teams, and evaluating and validating products after design changes.
  • Assisting other engineers with tooling and other Engineering issues.
  • Working with the management team to develop standards for new product development as well as specifying and overseeing sub-contract tooling design and manufacture where required.
  • Evaluating customer issues and examining Technical Drawings and Documentation to resolve design issues.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 7 to 10 year's experience working in an injection tooling design facility.
  • Engineering Degree or a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Good working knowledge of silicone rubber processing

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Schematic diagram creation along with full Engineering Drawings.
  • Relevant technical skills and knowledge should include, but not be limited to, 3D Solid Modelling, SolidWorks, FEA and Mould Flow Analysis, Continuous Improvement (Six Sigma or Lean) and excellent Microsoft Office suite skills including MS project.
  • A good understanding of Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience of using SolidWorks Vault (PDM) would be an advantage although not essential.
  • Strong project / program management abilities in order to effectively develop systems or oversee personnel.
  • A working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of small to large-scale production and manufacturing.

The Company

The Role

* Responsible for the completion of manual assembly operations to deliver sub-assemblies and complete gearboxes to a high quality
* Validation testing of sub-assemblies and complete transmissions using test rig
* Work in accordance to defined build processes (SOP) and procedures (QMS)
* Maintain internal databases and build records
* Work to high levels of quality and cleanliness
* Reporting fault findings and methodical structured approach to fault diagnosis
* Deliver under pressure to strict deadlines without compromising quality
* Maintenance and continuous improvement of the assembly build area and assembly techniques
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy

The Successful Candidate

To be successful in an application candidates should be able to demonstrate possessing the following skills attributes and experiences:

Essential:

* Experience of transmission assembly or similar high quality specialist assembly work
* Relevant Mechanical NVQ or similar craft apprenticeship
* PC literacy, in particular proven experience of working with MS office products
* Flexibility and willingness to work additional hours or shifts at where required.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Able to work outside of core business hours including weekends and possible shift patterns as agreed to meet project deadlines

Desirable:

* Mechanical HNC qualification or equivalent
* Previous motor-sport transmission assembly and track side experience
