  • You have a recognised relevant certification such as BCS Certificate in Enterprise & Solution Architecture, TOGAF 8/9, etc.

Any additional knowledge/experience of industry recognised certifications VCDX, CCIE, NetApp NCDA, etc would be an advantage though not mandatory.

2nd/3rd line IT Support Analyst

2nd / 3rd line Technical Support Analyst required for my client an IT Services and Cloud Solution Provider with multiple offices.

Seeking a keen, driven individual to assist in the delivery of first-class support and installation services to the current and growing client base. The role may well require as much as 40% of the time at client's sites (Largely Midlands based)

The selected individual will be joining a forward thinking business with great exposure to various technologies and solutions.

Duties:

  • To provide 2nd/3rd line technical support to a diverse array of clients (telephone / remote and site based support)
  • Provide on site support & installations where required
  • To provide 2nd/3rd line support of escalated helpdesk calls
  • To be proactive when dealing with user issues keeping the client updated on the status of their support query
  • To log and action issues identified by proactive monitoring
  • To support and maintain all levels of appropriate documentation
  • To assist in the maintenance and administration of hosted solutions

Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a role providing a high level of 2nd line desktop & server support / Helpdesk (remote/telephone/desk side/site support) experience
  • Excellent telephone manner, stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft based server operating systems with emphasis on Windows Server 2008, 2012 & 2016
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based desktop operating system Windows 7/8/10
  • Exchange server 2010 / 2013 & Exchange Online (Office 365)
  • Experience with using and troubleshooting Outlook 2007 / 2010 within a network environment (permissions, calendar sharing, and delegation)
  • Experience of managing shared folders and printers in a network environment
  • Knowledge of network and firewall administration, Active Directory administration - users creation, group memberships management, password management

Desirable Experience:

  • DNS/DHCP/VPN/VLAN/Firewalls
  • Group Policy
  • Microsoft / certifications desirable
  • Server installation / migration experience

Helpdesk / Ticketing Systems Support Specialist

Helpdesk / Ticketing Systems Support Specialist.

My client, a global services business currently require an IT Support specialist to provide senior level technical support services to users and organisations for the Call logging / Ticketing, monitoring & management systems.

This includes:

  • Ensuring service requests are appropriately executed,
  • The live service environment is operating correctly,
  • The live service is being maintained correctly across the SIAM process model
  • They support Incidents (or post Incident reviews) as required by providing insight and practical technical expertise.

They additionally serve as consultants in their speciality areas that concern a variety of functional operations and provides technical assistance, advice and training related to ordering the Tooling Standard Service, complex/expert use of the Tooling Standard Service and if appropriate what variant would be best suited to meet the business need.Currently supporting the following platforms, however experience of other IT Management and Monitoring tools will be considered.

  • Solarwinds,
  • BMC,
  • ServiceNow

Experience required would include:

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience in Technical Support roles (2nd or 3rd level Technical Support) within an ITIL aligned organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the scope of the Tooling Standard Service, able to demonstrate a track record of providing technical support at an experienced level to internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a process and procedure led environment, able to track work activity and report as well as recommend improvements to process or procedures that improve performance, increase satisfaction or reduce costs.
  • The Tooling Technical Specialist will have a knowledge of supporting IT Tooling platforms, including but not limited to: Service Management ticketing platforms, self-service portal platforms, 3rd party ticketing system integration services, device monitoring (e.g.switch, router, server, storage), security tools, license management tooling, service monitoring, application performance monitoring, event correlation services and automated escalation tools. ITS currently uses platforms from Solarwinds, BMC, Service Now and the role holder would benefit from expertise in this area.

This role, will be required as a minimum to obtain and retain BPSS clearance and depending on the Tooling Standard Service may require SC clearance

Systems Support Analyst

Systems Support Analyst required for my client a Midlands based, award winning Legal 500 firm of solicitors.

The support analyst is required to provide 1st and 2nd line support across the IT Desktop and Infrastructure environment alongside providing systems support to the in house bespoke legal software.

You will be required to learn the scripting tools associated with my client's Case Management Software to provide on-going support and training internally.

Duties will include -

  • Programming and scripting using software developed externally by a bespoke software house offering integrated case management and accounts solutions for solicitors
  • Evaluating and implementing projects to integrate other third party software with the existing systems
  • Developing client facing solutions as the need arises
  • Liaising with software suppliers to develop new solutions or solve problems
  • Supporting users on a range of software and hardware issues
  • Supporting the IT network manager
  • Working with the IT database administrator to enhance the use of the systems and the user experience
  • Training new and existing users
  • Dealing with IT aspects of the firms archiving
  • Health and safety IT assessment

The successful candidate will need experience with

  • Learning and using new programming/scripting languages
  • Multi-tasking within a small IT team
  • Prioritising and completing projects and tasks to deadlines
  • Liaising effectively with third party software suppliers and with users

The Hosting Standard Service Manager is responsible for

Planning, launch and day-to-day management of the Hosting standard service. This includes managing the Hosting service throughout the Standard Service Lifecycle, gathering and prioritising business and customer requirements, defining the Hosting standard service vision, and working closely with Operations, Solutions and Partners to deliver business winning services.

This role encompasses numerous activities from tactical to statistical roles and acts as a cross-functional link; bridging gaps within the business and IT between various functions and departments, most prominently between Operations, Solutions and Contract teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Determines business needs and performance expectations by working with the IT Business Partners, the business and specifying the external research needed to obtain market information.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future Standard Service lines by reviewing specifications and requirements with the Standard Service Technical Lead, appraising new service ideas and/or service variant changes.
  • Assesses external market competition by comparing the ITS Standard Service to competitor/external provider service. This comparison should include, functional, technical, service and cost comparisons.
  • Provides source data for Standard service communications by defining Service Catalogue entries, communications plan and adoption information.
  • Increases adoption of the Standard Service by working with Solutions and the IT Directors in the business to develop adoption and variation strategies.
  • Monitors Standard Service achievement of Service level targets, working with the Standard Service - Service Lead, Operational Teams and Service Management to understand issues, resolve problems and improve performance. Linked to this the Standard Service Manager is responsible for consumer satisfaction with the service, actively addressing any poor customer satisfaction issues tactically and systemically.
  • Collates Standard service consumption data by calling on contracts with Solutions and Service Leads, evaluating opportunities to assist the contracts further and addressing concerns or issues of existing users.

Experience required:

The Standard Service Manager must have had proven working experience of about 3-5 years in product/standard service management, experience in enterprise application, functional development and cost forecasting, or consultancy in these fields. The Standard Service Manager would be ideal if they additionally have a proven track record in successfully managing an IT product/service all through its lifecycle.

  • Financial Management: The Standard Service Manager must have a track record in budgeting, forecasting and managing a budget (up to £10m), with the financial acumen to understand TCO, unit costing, cash-flow
  • Service Management: The Standard Service Manager needs to understand ITIL and SIAM to a functional level, to be able to deliver and manage the standard service within these frameworks.
  • Technical Knowledge: Whilst knowledge of a broad spectrum of IT technologies and services is extremely beneficial, the Standard Service Manager must have detailed knowledge and experience of the service they are responsible for.
  • Hosting knowledge: The Standard Service manager will have a detailed knowledge of the Hosting market, including but not limited to: Managed hosting, on-site hosting, colocation hosting, cloud based hosting (public and private), compute and storage environments, Secure hosting, G-Cloud Services and associated management tools to optimise performance.

About the role

The Hosting Standard Service - Technical Lead is responsible for the overall architecture, high level design and engineering configuration of the Hosting Standard Service, working with suppliers and operational teams to continually review the technology currency and deployments to assure fit for purpose and performance.

This role works from concept (from the business), developing the service High level technical solution through the introduction process, gathering and prioritizing business and customer functional and performance requirements and working closely with Operations, Service Management and Partners to deliver business winning services.

You will develop the Hosting Standard Service technical design by working with the Hosting Standard Service Manager, IT Directors and the business to gather functional and performance requirements, determining technical specifications, identifying financial costs to the Hosting Standard Service Manager and supporting the time-integrated plans for Hosting Standard Service introduction. The Hosting Standard Service - technical Lead also ensures that the service functionality and adoption efforts support the businesses overall strategy and goals.

About you

  • Working experience of at least 10 years in IT Architecture Design, working within a TOGAF aligned Organisation, with a demonstrable track record in defining, High-Level architecting and developing configuration deployment designs for enterprise scale infrastructure and application, including cost forecasting, or consultancy in these fields.
  • Experience of working within TOGAF aligned processes to a detailed level, to be able to deliver and manage the architectural designs within these frameworks.
  • An Industry recognized architectural certification such as BCS Certificate in Enterprise & Solution Architecture or TOGAF 8/9.
  • Industry recognised architectural certifications in their respective areas of domain expertise e.g. Networking CCIE, Hosting, VCDX, Microsoft MCSE. The Technical Lead should have strong understanding of ITIL/SIAM Service Management standards (as a minimum ISO 20000, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001).
  • A detailed knowledge of the Hosting market, including but not limited to: Managed hosting, on-site hosting, colocation hosting, cloud based hosting (public and private), compute and storage environments, Secure hosting, G-Cloud Services and associated management tools to optimise performance. ITS currently uses Hosting from SunGard, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Vodafone and others as well as specific support services from Microland.
  • Must be able to develop long term roadmaps for the service to ensure that it keeps current with the market, sufficiently flexible to move with changing business need and an innovative thinker that can identify opportunities to deploy new technologies or re-use existing technologies in differentiating ways.
