I currently work within the Controls and Automation division at ASC. I focus on the Oil & Gas, Utilities, Automated Materials Handling, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage and FMCG industries.

I recruit for a variety of permanent, contract and interim roles including; Control Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, PLC/SCADA Engineers, Engineering Managers, Senior/Lead Engineers, Technical Support Engineers and Service Engineers.

I have 7+ years within the engineering recruitment sector and Controls & Automation is a really interesting market. I'm really excited about its development and passionate about finding great talent to help its growth. This has supported gain a good understanding of the controls and automation sector to a very high standard.

Controls Engineer

£35000 - £42000 per annum

Would you like to work for a growing and specialist engineering company who provide turnkey projects in infrastructure systems integration.

Working as a Control Systems Engineer you will:

  • Program a variety of PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function block or Statement List methods.
  • Programming and configuring SCADA software packages
  • IP network design and configuration.
  • Perform a FAT and site commissioning under formal client witnessed conditions.
  • Develop new software for customer specific equipment.
  • Develop technical documentation as required.
  • Develop testing documentation and procedures

To be successful, we're looking for:

  • Strong PLC / controls background ideally working the full lifecycle of a project from conceptual design all the way through to commissioning on site.
  • The ability to fault find and modify code.
  • A Time served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience working as part of a team to design, implement and test control/integrated systems.
  • Have a strong eye for detail with the ability to identify and solve problems
  • Able to work as part of a team and off own initiative

Global Service Engineer

£28000 - £31000 per annum company van, laptop and mobile phone

Would you like to work for a successful engineering company who specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of product handling systems?

This would be a great time to join a company who have recently invested in offices overseas and have the leading edge within drive and control technology.

As an Global Service Engineer you will:

  • Be responsible for the complete life cycle of manufactured products from site assembly & test, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of complete marine handling solutions.
  • Fault finding and attending breakdowns.
  • Report all feedback to line manager via phone / computer.
  • Be in a consultative role advising customers on the best possible solutions to ensure equipment is performing to the best of its ability.
  • Be required at times to travel offshore anywhere from 3 days to 6-8 weeks per trip.

To be successful, we're looking for:

  • Strong PLC / controls background ideally with Siemens or similar platform.
  • The ability to fault find and modify code.
  • A Time served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • An understanding of engineering mechanical / electrical technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Flexibility with travel.
  • You to have necessary offshore certificates (BOSIET, MIST), although full offshore training will be provided.

Benefits:

£31,000 pa basic salary with potential of OTE earnings £50k, the use of a company van, overtime allowance, mobile and laptop also provided. Holiday is 33 days including all statutory and public holidays.

The hours of work for this position are, Monday - Thursday 8.00am-4.45pm, Friday 8am- 12.00pm.

This role is based within Shropshire and is easily commutable from: Wolverhampton, Stoke, Telford, Shrewsbury, Birmingham, Bridgnorth and Kidderminster.

Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

£35000 - £40000 per annum

Experienced Electrical design engineer required for a company who globally holds leading market positions in technologies and methods in the food sector.

Required Skill Set

  • Reading/understanding of electrical schematics Essential
  • Knowledge of current regulations/safety standards Essential
  • Knowledge of hardware eg Rockwell (Powerflex drives, PLCs, control gear), Telemecanique (drives control gear), Merlin Gerin, Siemens etc Essential
  • Design of MCC Panels (motor circuits, safety circuits, PLC equipment, layouts) Essential
  • Produce I/O configuration and I/O lists, Produce material specifications and bills of material
  • Electrical testing / fault finding on-site / Produce cable schedules / sizing calculations
  • Design cable routes, calculate containment size and update building layout drawings
  • Writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements / CDM regulations
  • Knowledge of Export requirements
  • Design of fire alarm, small power & lighting, LV / HV distribution

Experience required to be considered for the role

Control Systems Engineer

£35000 - £45000

Would you like to work for a large independent system integrator who pride themselves on project delivery and excellent customer service?

Working as a Control Systems Engineer you will:

  • Program a variety of PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function block or Statement List methods.
  • Programming and configuring SCADA software packages
  • IP network design and configuration.
  • Perform a FAT and site commissioning under formal client witnessed conditions.
  • You will be supporting Engineers with their growth and development by direct mentoring. You will be able to show how you have liaised with clients and suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Review future project requirements for resources and identifying training and development opportunities for your team.
  • Develop engineers in your team, and manage expectations and progression.

To be successful, we're looking for:

  • Strong PLC / controls background ideally working the full lifecycle of a project from conceptual design all the way through to commissioning on site.
  • The ability to fault find and modify code.
  • A Time served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience working as part of a team to design, implement and test control/integrated

Control Systems Engineer

£32000 - £40000 per annum

Would you like to work for a successful engineering company have a reputation for excellence within industrial automation. They have projects in various industries including; FMCG, Materials handling, packaging and plastic moulding, petrochemical and defence and aerospace.

Working as a Control Systems Engineer you will:

  • To supply professional automation, control and instrumentation services to the clients.
  • To carry out or to manage others, as required by project objectives, in necessary activities such as hardware design, panel building, installation, and commissioning of Industrial control systems.
  • Select and configure SCADA systems.
  • To write software for PLCs, controllers and computers.
  • Create functional descriptions/procedures for specific projects.
  • Produce a full range of layout detail drawings and planning documents to contract specifications.
  • Manage multi-skill projects consisting of single controllers in standalone applications. When sufficiently experienced and with backup from a senior control engineer, the control engineer will also manage multi controller projects.

To be successful, we're looking for:

  • Strong PLC / controls background ideally with Siemens or Allen Bradley.
  • The ability to fault find and modify code.
  • A Time served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • An understanding of electrical technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with control panel wiring, Industrial standards and commissioning
  • Must have current valid passport and valid driving licence.

Working as a Control Systems Engineer you will:

  • Program a variety of PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function block or Statement List methods.
  • To be able to design control systems for a diverse range of machinery
  • General understand of control applications on machinery containing sensors, heaters, pumps and conveyors
  • Perform a FAT and site commissioning under formal client witnessed conditions.
  • Design of control panel layouts

To be successful, we're looking for:

  • Strong PLC / controls background ideally working the full lifecycle of a project from conceptual design all the way through to commissioning on site.
  • The ability to fault find and modify code.
  • A Time served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience working as part of a team to design, implement and test control/integrated systems.
