I have around 20 years experience within recruitment focusing on permanent, contract and temporary positions. For the last 7 years I have concentrated on roles within the procurement industry, an area I have a keen interest in.

I am continuing my procurement recruitment career at ASC. I have recently joined the Supply Chain & Procurement team alongside Mark Dawson and Anna Willis. I look forward to supporting the business grow its procurement market.

Production Planner

£35000 - £40000 per annum

The company is a well-established, and successful Tier-1 automotive manufacturer with manufacturing sites in the UK and Europe.
They have identified the need to recruit an experienced Production Planner to work closely with suppliers and translate those requirements into production plans, whether volume requirements or bespoke, ensuring completion to order and on time.

As the Production Planner you will:

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments to convert customer requirements into feasible master production schedules and monitor the input of this data into the company's ERP system.
  • Formulate and co-ordinate a weekly production plan for all production areas, accounting for all material availability, constraints on capacity and stock holdings.
  • Ensure costs associated with transport and storage are kept to a minimum and ensure sufficient stock is always available to meet production demands.
  • Monitor the production output against the plan and analyse basic failures to achieve the set requirements.

£50000 - £55000 per annum

As part of their continued growth, they now require a Group Purchasing & Operations Manager to join their management team.

As the Group Purchasing & Operations Manager, you will:

  • Develop, manage and optimise the purchasing supply chain across the group; consolidating the activities of the function across sites to support all of the manufacturing facilities purchasing needs.
  • Devise and implement the strategy for the materials management and purchasing function to achieve best in class service and inventory goals.
  • Develop procurement processes and build on current ERP framework to future proof business needs
  • Lead global and local purchasing - growing and strengthening key relationships with end-to-end supply chain partners across the business.
  • Lead key supplier negotiations and establish innovative ways to improve efficiencies and drive cost out in a price sensitive marketplace.

Procurement Specialist - Engineering

£25000 - £30000 per annum

  • Negotiating supplier contracts
  • Sourcing potential suppliers for the business

We would love to hear from you if you have had the following experience:

  • Previous experience of sourcing from foundries and subcontract machining companies with a knowledge of Tier-1 suppliers is essential
  • Experience of using SAP would be ideal
  • You will be able to read engineering drawings and bills of material
  • Ideally you will have at least two years experience within a procurement role (Buyer, Senior Buyer, Buying Assistant, Material Buyer)

Purchasing Assistant

£18000 - £20000 per annum

The company is a well-established machinery manufacturing business with a broad reach across a number of industries.
As part of their continued growth, they now require a Purchasing Assistant to join procurement team.

As the Purchasing Assistant, you will:

  • Process Purchase Orders.
  • Contact suppliers regularly by telephone and email to ensure delivery due dates are hit.
  • Data Entry, in order to monitor lead times/delivery of goods.
  • Concisely place machine build orders from a bill of materials (BOM) - using Sage and Excel.
  • Liaising with stores/stock forecaster to ensure correct stock levels are maintained.
  • Updating prices and information surrounding items on Sage.
  • General administrative support to purchasing.
  • As this is a small business, experience will also be gained by supporting and assisting in other departments as and when required.

We would love to hear from you if you have had the following experience:

Ideally, we are looking for an individual that has had some previous experience of working within a small Procurement team. This should be seen as an excellent development opportunity as you will be working closely within a small team.

  • You will preferably have previous purchasing knowledge, but a methodical, detail lead focus on workload/tasks is of the upmost importance.
  • Have very good face to face and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working as a key individual in a small team.
  • Ability to work diligently and accurately is a must as there is a large amount of data inputting required when raising purchase orders on Sage, maintaining Excel spreadsheets and updating PO's on Sage.
  • Whilst you will be required to work on your own initiative, it is essential that you enjoy being part of a small team and are willing to support others at challenging times.
  • Strong IT skills, and confidence in working with, MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A good working knowledge and experience of SAGE 50 will be an advantage.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, exciting environment.
  • Previous professional experience in a relevant field would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.
  • Able to follow systems.
  • The ability to be diverse and manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Organised.
