This growing manufacturer of plastic products to a range of industries is currently seeking an experienced Plastic Injection Moulding Technician/Supervisor to strengthen their team.

Your role will be to run the shift, managing the workload and the supervision and allocation of operators. This role will play a key part of the organisation by maintaining and improving production levels and quality.

As Injection Moulding Technician/Supervisor your duties will include -

• Setting injection moulding machines, including tool trialling and generation of setting documentation
• Supervision and training of Operators
• Carrying out quality control checks including first off/last, patrol inspections and SPC

To be successful in the role of Injection Moulding Technician/Supervisor the ideal candidate will -

• Have a significant amount of experience within plastic injection moulding
• Be capable of setting machines from scratch, optimising processes and trouble shooting
• Have experience of new product verifications/sampling
• Have experience of supervising a team of operators

Based near Frimley, this opportunity is commutable from Redhill, Reading, Slough, Basingstoke, Winchester, Newbury, Guildford, Middlesex and Surrey

Some of your responsibilities are listed below:

• Planning and communicating projects both strategically and tactically to meet the business needs
• Providing detailed project time-lines with milestones and highlighted potential pinch points
• Knowledge of the available assets to deliver a project on cost and on time, including tools, components, and people
• Communicating with the engineering team to resolve production pinch points
• Championing continuous process improvement to ensure productivity remains the highest priority
• Providing briefings and updates to senior managers and project teams
• Liaison with suppliers and customers to ensure all project stakeholder communication is timely and accurate

The ideal Project Manager will:

• Have a high level of understanding with lasers in an academic or hands on capacity, ideally within a varied and highly technical environment
• Have at least 3 years (ideally 5) of demonstrable hands-on experience working within a PM manufacturing environment
• Be IT literate: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and PM software
• Be able to produce up-to-date reports, Gannt charts and production timetables
• Have a mature approach and professional presentation with excellent communications skills both verbal and written to deal with team issues fairly and confidently
• Have a good understanding of PM and how to implement and maintain an operationally driven PM and quality culture

The Role:

• Assisting the design team in the workshop assembling and fitting brand new machinery working in a small team of engineers to install the systems
• Work involving electrical tasks, using a variety of hand and power tools
• working from engineering drawings and schematics
• All training can be provided for the right candidate

• Ensuring the smooth running of the mouldshop through timely tool changes, condition setting machines, resolving moulding/ process issues, etc
• Carrying out first-off quality checks
• Identifying process improvement opportunities, and implementing solutions

To be successful in the role of Injection Moulding Technician, the ideal candidate will:

• Have experience of working within plastic injection moulding, and have held the job title of Tool Setter, Process Technician, or Process Engineer
• Be able to troubleshoot, condition set, and optimise.
• Have experience of implementing continuous improvement
• Be comfortable with some element of heavy lifting (up to 50lbs)

Responsibilities for the machine tool engineer include -

• Workshop based mechanical assembly, build and commissioning of special purpose machinery
• Alignment, levelling and geometry checks
• Basic electrical wiring of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
• Functional testing of the machinery, dealing with any build issues, and rectifying along the way
• Working from build drawings and specifications
• Occasional customer visits to install and commission new machinery, as well as provide a hand over, demonstrations, and training to the customer
• Routine service and breakdown repairs to equipment when required

This role is 80% workshop based, 20% field travel to customers across the UK, so flexibility towards nationwide travel and overnight stays in hotels occasionally is required.

Training is provided on the various types of special purpose equipment, but a strong background in machine build is required for this opportunity.

We would love to hear from suitable candidates with the following skills and experience

- Apprentice trained in mechanical engineering
- Mechanically bias, ideally holding an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering
- Exposure to customer based field travel, or the flexibility to do so
- Good knowledge of fault-finding, diagnostics checking, and equipment inspection
- Willingness to travel nationally, and be prepared to stay overnight if required
- Clean driving license

With heavy investment over the last 18 months into new machines and manufacturing cells, you will be working within a modern environment, maintaining complex precision tooling made by some of the top toolmaking companies.

As Toolmaker / Toolroom Technician your duties will include -

• Servicing, repair and assembly of mould tools to run within injection moulding machines
• Working alongside toolmakers to investigate / trouble shoot process related issues in production / development tool to gain knowledge on all aspects of mould tool operation and servicing
• Providing written reports where necessary on tool findings
• Occasionally interfacing with customers / vendors

To be successful in the role of Toolmaker / Toolroom Technician, the ideal Candidate will -

• Have experience of maintaining, servicing and repairing injection mould tooling
• Have an understanding of the FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ & PQ validation procedures linked to the mould tools
• Be able to trouble shoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
• Be able to read tool / component drawings
• Have a general understanding of all areas within the tooling environment

Based in South London, this role is Commutable from Greater London, Guildford, Reigate, Tonbridge, Horsham and Crawley.

Candidates Suitable for this role are likely to hold the position of Tool Maker, Tool Maintenance Technician or similar.
