An applications engineer is required for a rapidly expanding CNC cutting tool OEM based in the UK.

We're looking for an engineer with a unique understanding of the manufacturing industry along the M1 corridor, from Rugby down to the outskirts of Greater London, with full scope to develop and get in front of clients in your region of focus.

This role is fully remote, working from home and site based with clients. Occasional head office visits may be required to collect tooling, brochures and equipment needed.

Responsibilities of the applications engineer

• Maintaining and developing relationships with the current client base
• Increasing sales and volume of end users of the products
• Actively deliver technical tooling solutions to customers whilst on site
• Identify and develop your own leads, as well as following up leads generated from the internal team
• Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of capital machine tool equipment, to maximise tooling sales opportunities
• Work alongside colleagues and management to coordinate and deliver marketing campaigns, exhibitions and promotional events
• Document cost saving activity and daily use / updating of the CRM system

To be successful as an applications engineer, we're looking for the following skills / experience

- Previous experience as a CNC cutting tool sales engineer, applications engineer, or a multi skilled CNC Programmer
- Be able to confidently demonstrate tooling features, and identify solutions to the end user whilst on site
- Have a strong awareness of the manufacturing industry in the south west, as well as competitors and distributors
- Excellent communication and customer facing skills
- Full UK driving license

Due to expansion, an experienced Toolmaker is required to join a well-equipped Toolroom that utilises the latest CAD/CAM software linked to CNC equipment, offering a seamless design and manufacturing process and service.

Serving a multitude of industries including medical, automotive and caps and closures, their expertise encompasses single impression moulds, complex multi-impression hot runner moulds and small, quick change modular tooling up to a size of 2 Tonnes.

As a Toolmaker, your duties will include -

• Design and manufacture of mould tools up to 2 Tonnes
• Preventative maintenance, modifications and day to day servicing and repairs of production tooling
• Using the latest CAD/CAM software linked to CNC equipment

To be successful in the role of Toolmaker, the ideal candidate will -

• Be a time served / apprentice trained Toolmaker
• Have a strong background in injection mould tool manufacture, repair, and maintenance
• Have experience of single impression and complex multi-impression hot runner moulds
• Be conversant with CAD/CAM software packages
• Ideally be capable of CNC CAM Programming
• Ideally be capable of laser welding, surface and cylindrical grinding

A salary £35-40K depending on experience

Day shift: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm, 4pm finish on Fridays

Based in Hertfordshire, this role is commutable from Luton, Watford, Bishop's Stortford, Royston and all surrounding areas

Ideal candidates will have experience in a manufacturing business and be willing to work rotational day shift and/or nights. You should have at least 1 year experience in production or manufacturing.

• A Counterbalance licence is desired for this role.

Your main duties will include:

• Operating various production machines
• Ensure machines run smoothly and products meet quality standards
• Troubleshoot any problems and ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
• Flag any issues you can't fix to the maintenance team
• Quality inspect parts

2 Rotating shift (one week of each)

• 06:00 until 14:00 - £11ph
• 14:00 until 22:00 - £12.51ph

OR NIGHT SHIFT

• 22:00 until 06:00 - £12.91ph

(2 weeks of training on days is required before moving to nights)

Please be aware if offered a contract, you may be required to work 3 shifts (AM, PM & NIGHTS)

• Anything over 40 hrs in the week paid @ x1.5
• Saturdays paid @ x1.5
• Sundays paid @ x2.0

You are required to have experience working on a grinding machine / grinder. You will be working in a precision environment, working to extremely tight tolerances.

• Working from engineering drawings
• Working to tight tolerances in a precision environment
• Working on Sunnen and Delapena grinders
• Conducting quality inspection using Bore micrometers and possibly Surface Finish Testing

The hours of work for this role will be permanent days, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with a 2:30pm finish on Fridays.

The Grinder role pays £28,000 - £34,000 per annum dependent on experience.

You d not need experience of working on a gundrill, however you will need to be a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist. • Working from engineering drawings on a CNC gundrill
• Working to tight tolerances in a precision environment
• Fully programming, setting and operating the machine

• Using Fanuc controls

The CNC Turner role pays £30,000 - £35,000 per annum dependent on experience.
