An Operations Group Leader job opportunity has just become available, within a leading First Tier supplier to the Automotive Sector. Located within the Birmingham area, this company is offering a competitive salary package of up to £40,000 10% bonus for the best, proactive engineering professional.

Main Purpose of the Operations Group Leader position -

Responsible for the safe & efficient management of production operations, as well as continuous improvement & H S projects. Achievement of sequential delivery in full/on time, in order to meet with the Company and Customer requirements.

Operations Group Leader Requirements include -

* Manage and lead a team of 4 Team Leaders & 30 Operatives.
* Manage the daily operation & functions of the production team.
* Implement and update risk assessments.
* Monitor parts available for the production team.
* Monitor delivery sequence to the main automotive customers.
* Actively monitor and take responsibility for the safety of all members of the team.
* Process by process inspection - Monitor staff capabilities/skill levels against SOP requirements.
* Identify problems and provide counter measures/solutions, using problem solving techniques.
* Responsible for the training and on-going commitment to 5S in the Production areas.
* Manage and develop Team Leaders through training/coaching/mentoring.
* Manage the Production KPI Targets.
* Be the first point of contact to liaise with customers/suppliers on all issues, which have the potential to affect production operations.
* Be the main point of contact for the customer on all delivery matters and any special requirements they may have.
* Be a part of customer meetings, in relation to production issues.
* Engage and develop training programs for successful planning.
* Ensure that all direct/indirect reports are fully trained and maintain company skills matrix/records.
* Deal with employee relations issues, leading investigations and holding disciplinary meetings when appropriate - with any relevant HR support.
* Conduct grievance investigations with HR as/when required.
* Manage absence management as/when required.
* Lead Kaizen activities and promote the use of Kaizen to ensure an on-going commitment to continuous improvement.
* Responsible for the Health and Safety performance of production.

Desirables for this Operations Group Leader opportunity -

* Previous experience working for a supplier to the Automotive Sector.
* Knowledge of ISO9001/TS16949/IATF.
* Proactive work ethic.
* Excellent team leader.
* Customer & supplier Liaison experience.
* Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
