A leading automotive company who supply to the the major manufacturers are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join their team in Birmingham.

Maintenance Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

Efficient and effective management of the maintenance function at the companies Aston Site, ensuring that the building and equipment are maintained to a high standard and in full working order.

ü Customer and Supplier liaison

ü Additional Responsibilities

ü 5S

ü Critical spares ordering

Site Maintenance

ü Responsible for set up and installation and commissioning of all relevant equipment

ü Provide and coordinate site services

ü Facilities management

ü Provide ongoing provision for site maintenance

ü Maintain and repair all mechanical and electrical equipment and facilities

ü Order relevant parts for machinery as and when required

ü Oversee new product introductions and manage the introduction process

ü Manage stock levels for stores

ü Manage TPM / PPM schedule

ü Plan & coordinate engineer training

ü Plan & organise engineer shifts & cover

ü Ensure calibration of all equipment affecting quality/conformity of product

ü Ensure KPI's are maintained

Customer and supplier liaison

ü Oversee and manage contracts with external service providers and manage contractors on site

Main point of contact for landlord

People Management

ü Manage and lead a team of up to 8 Maintenance Engineers and Contractors according to business needs

ü Manage team and ensure training provided where required


ü Ensure Kaizen principles are adhered to and promoted at all times in order to ensure an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

Health and Safety

ü Comply with all Health and Safety Procedures

Additional Responsibilities

ü Comply with all Environmental Policies and Procedures

Any other duties relevant to the grade of post as may be designated by the Company

Qualifications & Experience

- Qualified to a minimum HNC level (apprentice trained)

- Significant experience in a similar position ideally within the automotive industry

- Able to demonstrate strong people management skills, including the training and development of your team and basic HR processes e.g. recruitment processes,

conducting return to works, appraisals, disciplinary meetings and investigation


- Able to demonstrable fault finding, diagnosis, problem solving and repair skills

- Previous experience of working with JLR or Toyota would be an advantage but is not essential.

- Ability to work in a pressurised and reactive environment

- Excellent PLC skills (ideally Fanuc, Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi)

- Ability to read engineering drawings and write technical reports

- Good problem-solving skills

- Awareness of health and safety legislation.

- Attention to detail and accuracy

- "Can-Do"/ positive/ flexible approach

- Knowledge of Siemens 7S (Desired)

- Knowledge of Mitsubishi Electrical Technology (Desired)

- Background in Pneumatic Engineering (Desired)

- Full driving license essential as this role may require travel to other sites

Hours 07:30am - 4:00pm (40 Hours per week)
