Our client is a specialist lifting equipment manufacturer to the oil & gas, chemical, energy and automotive sectors, with global projects and partners this company really is a specialist in their field. Due to expansion they are looking for a Control Systems Engineer with experience of crane and hoist electrical design, you will be based at their Birmingham office but covering a global remit of projects.

Control Sytems Engineer

This role will involve supporting the Project and Series product, Sales and Engineering teams in the

electrical design, detail engineering, specification, certifying and sourcing of products.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Liaise with internal Engineers and clients to discuss or develop existing or potential future

engineering proposals and specifications.

Develop end to end tendering electrical designs for specified works, in conjunction with the space

envelope constraints available in the mechanical arrangements.

Deliver in a timely manner Electrical design costings and lead time estimates to meet the

requirements of the relevant invitation to tender scope

Produce detail electrical designs for contracts; including control circuit design, schematic diagrams,

panel heat calculations, panel layouts, cable calculations, cable schedules and parts lists.

Prepare electrical documentation required for contracts to meet customer specifications.

Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical schemes instruments, equipment, facilities,

components, products, and systems to comply with latest legislation and safety requirements.

Operate computer-aided engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering

tasks.

Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support,

documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer

requirements.

Ensure sufficient resources are identified during costing to meet delivery programme requirements

Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation

standards and specifications.

Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and

equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards. Including the

development of Electrical FAT procedures.

Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.

Investigate and test vendors' and competitors' products.

Investigate relevant customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend

remedial measures.



ROLE REQUIREMENTS:



This position works standard office hours. However, the incumbent will be required to work unpaid

overtime on the occasional basis, reasonable notice will be given of this requirement.

There will be a requirement to travel to customer premises throughout the UK.

Attend FAT testing of equipment at sub contractors facilities to ensure functional and technical

compliance with the Project specifications.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Qualified to at least HNC in Electrical Engineering

5 years previous experience in crane and hoist scheme detail electrical design work

Proficient user of AutoCAD

Knowledge of related standards, in particular BS, EN and 17thEdition IEE regulations

Previous experience in the certification process of Ex equipment by NRTL's
