Job Description

A Birmingham based food company is looking to recruit a Junior Buyer.

You will be working for an established, successful business that has had roots in Birmingham for decades.

Within this role you will support the buying team and business by:

  • Communicating clearly with existing suppliers in order to progress and observe all plans in order to improve KPI'S.
  • Aim to regularly improve trading profit as well as save on operating costs.
  • Observe all goods are received on time and that all good are purchased accordingly, in order for the operations to process for the customer's order.
  • A Junior Buyer must create daily relationships with internal teams and suppliers to be regularly managed and developed.
  • All supply updates to be reported to the sale teams if there are an updates.

As a Junior Buyer you will require:

  • Ability to meet customers and suppliers when needed.
  • Overseas travel will be required from time to time.
  • Clear communication, organisation and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
  • A Junior Buyer must have excellent numeracy and strong negotiation skills.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, with the ability to work within a team.
  • High attention to detail.

It would be an advantage as a Junior Buyer if you have worked within a food company and have purchased ingredients, fresh, perishable products from suppliers both locally and globally.
