Manufacturing Engineer

A global industrial equipment manufacturer which supplies into a number of different sectors including Automotive & Aerospace, is looking to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team due to growth within the business. This role will be responsible for short term process fixes, the development of long term strategic plans for Production layout and reviewing Production/Manufacturing processes to work towards a zero quality defect environment

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Defining Production processes for NPI ensuring that tooling, manufacturing methods & required documentation are provided in line with project time scales, to budget and meet required quality standards. This will include:
  • Work Instructions, process flows and routings
  • Identifying and sourcing production tooling & equipment
  • Implement production control systems
  • Control Plans
  • Lead PFMEA
  • Support PPAP preparation
  • Sourcing test equipment to meet engineering specifications
  • Analysing product designs to formulate the most appropriate manufacturing processes while ensuring that tolerances specified are within current production capabilities.

Production Support:

  • Attend production/manufacturing meetings and carry out relevant actions
  • Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for internal & external issues.
  • Action audit non-conformities
  • Co-ordinate training & site procedures relating to all aspects of operational process planning / provide process training to relevant personnel
  • Identify key quality points on product assembly
  • Supporting audit activities (both internal and external)
  • Review factory layout looking at production volumes, labour resources, tooling, equipment and assembly methods.
  • Supporting the Engineering Change process
  • Complete internal audits and support changes to the QMS

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required to be successful:

  • Will be an experienced hands on Manufacturing Engineer / Production Engineer / Industrial Engineer / NPI Engineer / Process Engineer in a manufacturing / assembly environment
  • MUST have experience in manual assembly (low to medium volume) using manual tools
  • Working knowledge of SOP's / Control Plans / PFMEA's / PPAP
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Be a problem solver taking ownership of issues identified & provide an effective solution
  • Experience of MRP systems
  • Experience of Production Control Systems
  • Ability to use CAD / Computer Aided Design for layouts

On Offer -

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 0700-1600 / Friday 0700-1200 (Flexi-Time)
