Job Description

A Buyer/Assistant Buyer is required for a specialist manufacturing business based in Warwickshire

As a Buyer/Assistant Buyer you will be responsible for managing the purchasing of materials from existing suppliers, as well as sourcing and selecting new suppliers

Your aim will be to reduce costs, improve quality and deliver a lean, efficient supply chain.

Buyer/Assistant Buyer Responsibilities

  • Negotiating the supply of parts, materials, and components in line with production plans.
  • Define a strategy for your commodities and suppliers, ensuring that the business has the best supply is in place.
  • Develop strong relationships with all suppliers and be the main point of contact within these.
  • Work with production, quality and the wider business to ensure an accurate plan is in place and that your suppliers are delivering to the high quality expected.
  • Daily use of the MRP system for business and personal improvement around business metrics.

Experience and skills required as a Buyer/Assistant Buyer

  • Proven experience of working for a manufacturing business and to have purchased manufacturing parts, components, and materials.
  • Strong manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience of sourcing globally.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel.
  • Understanding and experience in using MRP systems
