Job Description

A manufacturer is recruiting an experienced Buyer to work from their Leeds headquarters. You join the small purchasing team and take responsibility for a selection of suppliers with the purpose of building strong supplier relationships and negotiating favourable terms.

As a buyer the shift will be Mon/Tues 7.30 am to 16:30pm, Wed/ Thurs 7.30 am to 16:15 and Fri 7.30 am to 12 noon. As the Buyer you will support the Purchasing Manager:

  • Plan and schedule material deliveries in line with production plans working closely with the Production and Planning department.
  • Work closely with suppliers to maintain relationships and ensure timely delivery.
  • Control of costs for material usage and price variances. Ensure as the buyer you are implementing cost reduction incentives.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders using SAP ordering system and general maintenance of SAP data.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience in a previous Buyers role with experience in purchasing in the manufacturing industry
  • An enthusiastic self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure tight deadlines are met.
  • Strong understanding of MRP systems and experience with SAP would be advantageous
  • A logical approach to problem-solving and the ability to make decisions based on facts
