Job Description

An established manufacturer of plastic parts to the automotive industry is looking to strengthen their Tooling Team with an additional Tooling Engineer.

Order books remain strong with long-term contracts guaranteeing continuity of work, ensuring a stable and safe opportunity.

Reporting into the Tool Engineering Manager you will be responsible for developing & managing injection mould tools, plus improving tooling standards to reduce production costs.

As Injection Moulding Tooling Engineer your duties will include:-

  • Taking responsibility for the introduction of new tooling into production from tool launch until SOP 90 days
  • Working with component designers to ensure new designs are in line with the principals of reducing costs and lead times for tools, reducing cycle times and scrap levels, and minimising tool maintenance and breakdowns.
  • Co-ordinating and carrying out cross-functional tool design (GA) reviews, ensuring all tool designs are reviewed in line with tool specification, procedures and guidelines.
  • Co-ordinating the manufacture of tooling for use in the company to schedule.
  • Supporting the Senior Technical Buyer when conducting RFQ and nomination activities for new tooling.
  • Travelling to tooling suppliers (UK, Europe and Far East) to trial, develop and approve new tools for shipment.

To be suitable for the role of Tooling Engineer the ideal candidate will:-

  • Hold significant experience in plastic injection mould tool design, development, and implementation.
  • Have strong organisational skills, ability to manage suppliers and control tool timing to program schedule
  • Have experience of Trial Reporting, Problem Follow Up Reporting and maintaining Project Work Books.
  • Be able to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.

Based in Droitwich this role is commutable from Tewksbury, Worcester, Redditch, Stratford, Kidderminster, Dudley, Malvern and Birmingham.
