Job Description

A hugely successful OEM of precision CNC machinery are recruiting for an experienced service engineer to join their expanding team.

The business is one of the largest and most established companies throughout the world that specialise in the supply, installation, commission and repair CNC Machines. They have a strong network of engineers across the UK, along with 2 additional technical support staff who are office based. They have a head office here in the UK for equipment storage, refurbishment and distribution, as well as a global headquarters in Europe where the equipment is built.

Benefits including an excellent base salary of £40 - £45K, plus an OTE of £55K with door to door payments and overtime weekday / weekends, company car, mobile phone & laptop, 33 days holiday, private pension, yearly bonuses and pay rises.

Responsibilities for the role include -

  • Breakdown repairs and maintenance CNC Machines including Mills, Lathes, Grinders and purpose made equipment
  • Routine service and inspections, as well as fault finding
  • Carrying out both mechanical and electrical repairs to machinery including control panels
  • Installation and commissioning of machinery on site
  • Ordering of parts from the office, replacing and retrofitting
  • Providing end user training and customer support both remotely and on site
  • Travel from home to site covering a region of the West & East Midlands, but be prepared to travel nationally when installation & commissioning projects are required.

There are 15 trained technicians across the UK, along with 2 technical support staff at the end of the phone for troubleshooting support. Your role would remain regional in the South Yorkshire area, as the business prefer to keep you active in your own territory rather than travelling all over the UK

Product training provided in the first 6 - 12 months too, with up to 3 trips scheduled travelling to Europe where all the equipment is manufactured.

We would love to hear from you've previously worked in any of the following roles -

- Service Engineer, Service Technician, Maintenance of CNC, Field Technician, CNC Engineer
- Electrically bias, ideally holding an NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering
- Experience working with Heidenhain or Siemens controls
- Good knowledge of fault finding, electrical and mechanical repairs
- Willingness to travel nationally, and be prepared to stay overnight if required
- Clean driving license

No call out is required with this role, weekend overtime has to be pre authorized by both client and head office before being offered out to the team.

The business are prepared to be as flexible and supportive as possible, overnight stays and extensive travel is ideally kept to a minimum, but the business requires an someone who is prepared to do both when necessary. In return the company can be equally flexible when needing time off or working around other engagements.
