Job Description

An innovative engineering and manufacturing business specialising in hi-tech solutions that offers laser cutting, engraving, and printing machinery to various industries across the UK and Europe, is now recruiting a Project Manager to take a lead on all new projects. They have won a potentially very lucrative contract, provided they deliver to agreed time-lines and targets.

This is a 6 month rolling contract with a permanent option available if you're interested, once delivery of this new project has bore fruit.

You will be responsible for ensuring new projects are delivered on time and customer expectations are managed and met. You will be pivotal to the future success of this business and its ability to cope with increased growth and profitability.

This role involves the planning and facilitation of multiple build projects, testing, training, and delivery on a current and developing range of complex platforms.

Some of your responsibilities are listed below:

  • Planning and communicating projects both strategically and tactically to meet the business needs
  • Providing detailed project time-lines with milestones and highlighted potential pinch points
  • Knowledge of the available assets to deliver a project on cost and on time, including tools, components, and people
  • Communicating with the engineering team to resolve production pinch points
  • Championing continuous process improvement to ensure productivity remains the highest priority
  • Providing briefings and updates to senior managers and project teams
  • Liaison with suppliers and customers to ensure all project stakeholder communication is timely and accurate

The ideal Project Manager will:

  • Have a high level of understanding with lasers in an academic or hands on capacity, ideally within a varied and highly technical environment
  • Have at least 3 years (ideally 5) of demonstrable hands-on experience working within a PM manufacturing environment
  • Be IT literate: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and PM software
  • Be able to produce up-to-date reports, Gannt charts and production timetables
  • Have a mature approach and professional presentation with excellent communications skills both verbal and written to deal with team issues fairly and confidently
  • Have a good understanding of PM and how to implement and maintain an operationally driven PM and quality culture
