Job Description

A Worcestershire based manufacturing company is looking to recruit a Buyer to work in their purchasing department. This role is a 12 month Maternity Cover position.

You will be working for an established, successful business that has been running for 20 years. In the role of buyer, you will be responsible for the progress the commodity strategy for purchased plastic mould parts or purchased electronic components in line with the business strategies.

Within this role you will support the Purchasing Department and business by:

  • Improve the commodity strategy in line with the department's business strategies and company policies.
  • Implement the strategy and monitor the progress to ensure achieving cost down
  • Review the drawings to closely monitor any design changes and ensure that suppliers are fully aware of these changes in time and log/record all cost implications where
  • Maintain the regular contact with current/potential suppliers to develop/maintain commercially competitive business partnership -which includes visiting the supplier site for on-spot auditing of processes/ commercial reviews
  • Work with the supplier systems, ensuring that the relevant KPI measures are in place and regularly reviewed on all suppliers.

As a Buyer you will require:

  • Experience in working with Tier 1 Automotive environment.
  • Fully or Partially qualified within CIPS ( or studying towards CIPS)
  • Production/ Manufacturing experience 5 Years minimum.
  • Experience in supply management.
  • Experience in Purchasing Electronics or Plastic Moulding.
