Senior Controls System Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: up to £46,000

An established Designer and Manufacturer of Special equipment are looking to increase their technical proficiency by recruiting a Senior Control Systems Engineer. With years of experience designing specialist machines, they consistently provide dependability, a swift operation.

Day to Day activities

Use control system engineering knowledge and technical leadership to support new product development

Provide innovative thinking for new projects

Be responsible for the specification of control systems based on machine level specifications and stakeholders' requirements;

Manage stakeholders' requirements to ensure a cost effective, reliable and safe design;

Research into new technologies and how they could be incorporated into the control system design;

Be responsible for the design of control systems from initial concept through to series production;

Oversee and advise on the development of control systems from initial concept through to fully implemented, tested and proven production solutions (including hardware design and software design);

Interface with other areas of the Engineering function to ensure the efficient integration of the control systems into the wider product;

Interface with and advise the Product Lifecycle Support team to ensure that through-life machine updates and modifications are carried out in line with the intended design;

Oversee a small team of engineers or specialists;

Own and be responsible for a specific group of commodities;

Plan, estimate, prioritise and manage own work and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

In addition to a strong engineering background, the ideal Control Systems Engineer will have:

A degree in a field relevant to electronics and control (candidates without a degree, or without a degree in a relevant field will be considered if they can demonstrate extensive and relevant industry experience);

At least 5 years' experience in a relevant role;

Experience in system development for complex electro-mechanical systems;

Knowledge of PLC logic and programming.

Strong problem solving ability;

Excellent communication skills.
