A Continuous Improvement Manager position has just become available for a well-established manufacturing business, near the Milton Keynes area. This well regarded business will be paying a starting salary of £45,000 (negotiable) package, to the successful Engineering professional.

Purpose of the Continuous Improvement Manager -

Management of the Development area, Pre-Production facilities and the manufacture of prototype and pre-production machinery.

Continuous Improvement Manager duties include -

* Manage everyday activities, of the Development area and the pre-production facilities. This will include - duty scheduling, resource supervision, inspection of any housekeeping standards and management of Health and Safety barometer checks.
* Manage the build of Proof of concept > Proof of Product > Proof of Process and Proof of Production prototype machinery.
* Implement and manage changes to the above as and when required.
* Manage the Project Engineers, assign tasks and review training requirements and progression plans.
* Liaise with the Development Team Supervisors and Senior Projects Engineers, to make sure prototype machines are manufactured with accurate design intent in mind.
* Supervise prototype commissioning and communicate with the relevant teams to resolve any issues.
* Review build sequence > Initial Sample Inspection Reports > work instructions, and quality documentation, produced by the Project Engineers, to confirm accuracy and efficiency.
* Liaise with the Design team, to ensure tooling/fixings are looked at on time and correctly, ensuring a smooth transition to production.

Continuous Improvement Manager desirable skills/experience/attributes -

* Experience working within the pre-production area, prototyping products and with activities relating to new product introduction (NPI).
* Strong understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
* Knowledge of Quality tools such as Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
* Knowledge of welding > assembly processes >hosing and electrical wiring.
* Knowledge of Design for the Manufacture and Assemblies.
* Strong communication skills and commercial awareness.
* Proactive work ethic and natural problem solver.
* Engineering, or relevant education within a technical division.
