Are you a Design Engineer with experience working in a Mechanical engineering environment? Do you have an interest in both Mechanical and Electrical products?

If so, we want to speak with you about a role that has become open with a family-owned manufacturer of Electro-Mechanical products.

You, the Design Engineer, will be responsible for both new projects and on-going development of existing products. You will be working closely with customers and teams internally so you will so willing to provide high-quality support to your team. Enthusiasm and a natural desire to collaborate with your team is imperative to the position.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Contributing to design discussions.

  • Progressing projects for new parts and assemblies from conceptual design through into production.
  • Responsibility for the creation of new bills of materials and the manipulation of existing bills.
  • Creating technical drawings for both new and existing parts.

Mechanical Design Engineer

£32000 - £37000 per annum

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £32,000 - £37,000

Location: Birmingham

A fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer within an established and growing company located near the centre of Birmingham with a strong reputation in the automotive and test industries.

We are seeking a Mechanical engineer who can work on various types of equipment for assembly and testing.

Key roles and responsibilities

Produce specification documents

Support customer review meetings and provide on-site support as required

Validate designs to ensure all requirements have been achieved

Ensure that all designs perform to best practice technology standards and are not over-engineered for customer applications

Produce technical mechanical drawings for manufacturing following best practice and procedures

Produce simple electrical schematics and IO assignment

Review designs and produce BOM's which are clear, correct and documented sufficiently for hand over to purchasing and manufacturing

Qualification and education

Degree or HND / HNC in a relevant discipline

Transferable skills from time served engineers or hobbies will also be taken into consideration

Preferred Skills

3 years of experience with a good understanding of bespoke machine building

Much of our work is engineering or automotive-focused, therefore a good knowledge and interest in motor vehicles and the motor industry would be of benefit

Understanding and experience of vehicle electrical systems & schematics would be beneficial, even from hobby experience

Experience and knowledge of working in a practical, hands-on environment

Experience in Solidworks (Sheet metal, Part, Assembly, Drawing) other package histories will be considered and training will be provided

Having an understanding and the ability to generate accurate BOM's

Senior Design Engineer

£40000 - £50000 per annum

Senior Design Engineer

A leading manufacturer of electronic technical applications, is looking to recruit an experienced & driven Senior Design Engineer to join their team.

Purpose of Role:

The Senior Design Engineer will design, develop and implement electro-mechanical design solutions from concept through to production.

This role will be responsible for design, development and prototyping of complex electronic systems for specialised secure applications and support Production & Sales throughout all stages of the product lifecycle.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Experience of designing Electro-Mechanical solutions within an Aerospace, Military, Defence or similar environment
  • Strong understanding of modern design practices & manufacturing/prototyping processes
  • Experience in working in a regulated industry, understanding data storage criteria and handling sensitive information in a tight security environment
  • Understanding of ISO9001 quality standards and systems.
  • Understanding of UK TEMPEST Standards
  • Basic knowledge of Military and Defence standards
  • Understand the impact of design decisions on cost, timings and production build.
  • Good communication skills.
  • IT Literate - Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to gain Security SC/DV Clearance

Responsibilities Overview:

  • Identify and recommend TEMPEST control and functional approaches to ensure compliance with UK and NATO standards, during the conceptual phase of product development through to volume production.
  • Develop strong working relationships with other team members and functions to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and are capable of being manufactured cost efficiently.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to colleagues and team members ensuring knowledge and experience is shared adding to company growth and building a culture of continuous learning.
  • Problem solving of design related issues on existing and new product developments
  • Prepare cost estimates to support Sales with bid activities & proposals to customers.
  • Create, manage and release design documentation & Bills of Materials
  • Maintain a continuous assessment of new technologies and procedures, which may be appropriate to incorporate into future products and processes to enable company growth and development.
  • Support the Engineering function to ensure efficient and effective processes.

CAD Engineer

CAD Engineer

Due to exceptional growth, a leading manufacturer of industrial machinery applications is looking to recruit a CAD Engineer.

Role Overview:

As an assembly production environment, this role will be responsible for modifying existing products through product development to increase efficiency, performance and design taking into account supplier capabilities and cost effectiveness.

You will also provide technical input to the production department

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Experience with 3D CAD / AutoCAD advantageous but conversion course can be provided
  • Experience in manufacturing processes ideally fabrications
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and its requirements
  • Experience in creation of Bills of Materials
  • IT Literate in MS Office particularly MS Excel

Responsibilities:

  • Produce 3D models and outline drawing proposals according to customer requirements
  • Maintain existing drawing revisions for steel fabrications and components, while standardising part details and consolidating related profiles
  • Create First Article Inspection reports
  • Produce tooling & jig designs
  • Create Work Instructions to aid production
  • Create Bills of materials.
